Parenting a young person who experiences intense emotions can be rewarding, challenging, and at times overwhelming. If your child struggles with emotional ups and downs, anxiety, anger, impulsive behaviours, or feeling overwhelmed, this programme is designed to help.
Supporting Big Emotions is a five-session parent workshop that teaches practical, evidence-based skills to help caregivers better understand and support young people experiencing emotional regulation difficulties. Drawing on principles from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), parents and caregivers will learn strategies to respond more effectively during difficult moments while building stronger connections with their young person.
Throughout the programme, participants will learn how to be more present and intentional in their responses, understand what drives emotional reactions, and support young people through big feelings without becoming overwhelmed themselves. The programme explores ways to balance acceptance and change, reduce power struggles, strengthen communication, and create an environment where young people feel both understood and supported.
Whether you are looking for practical tools, greater confidence, or a deeper understanding of your young person's emotional experiences, this programme provides a supportive space to learn, connect, and build skills that can make a meaningful difference at home.
Because supporting a young person through big emotions shouldn't mean navigating it alone.
