About Sunny Lin

Kia ora, I’m Sunny. I came to NZ from China in 2015. I have completed a master of applied social work and then worked in Waitematā District Health Board for 6 years and in Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) for another 4 years. My main work experience is with adult clients suffering from trust issues, anxiety and depression, stress, life transition or relationship issues.

  • I am an ACC registered counsellor who supports people navigating emotional challenges, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. I provide a warm, non-judgmental space where clients can slow down, understand what they are experiencing, and begin to move forward with greater clarity and confidence.

My approach is trauma-informed and integrates evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness. I have experience supporting clients recovering from trauma, including those working through the impacts of sexual abuse or assault under the ACC Sensitive Claims pathway. I work at a pace that feels safe and respectful, helping clients rebuild trust in themselves and develop practical tools for everyday life. I believe meaningful change happens when people feel seen, understood and supported.

  • Trauma-informed and Neuro-Diverse integrated evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness.

  • I provide a calm, welcoming space where you won’t feel judged. We’ll take things at your pace, giving you time to slow down, make sense of what you’re going through, and gently move forward when you’re ready. I’ll support you in a way that feels safe and respectful, helping you rebuild trust in yourself and find practical ways to cope with everyday life.

My focus is always on making sure you feel heard, understood, and supported, because that’s where real change begins.
