Roslyn Hughes

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST – PGDIPPSYCH (CLIN)

Roslyn has a special interest in supporting people through life’s changes and transitions.  In her practise she will also focus on helping clients to build relationships and a sense of sexuality that’s safe and comfortable for them. She particularly enjoys working with teens and adults struggling with a porn addiction. Roslyn can also utilise these skills to help individuals with other addictions and with clients looking to change unhelpful relationship patterns.

Roslyn’s other area of interest is working with clients who have unwanted thoughts.  Sometimes people can have thoughts that are bizarre, embarrassing, and stressful.  They believe no one else thinks this way.  She loves providing a safe place for clients to express themselves honestly and giving them the tools they need to regain control over their thinking.

Roslyn’s career has seen her working in a wide range of settings, so almost no struggles are unknown to her.  She has worked in private practise, Adult Mental Health, Department of Corrections, Forensic and school-based settings.  Roslyn believes that the client-therapist interactions are paramount to assisting in change and she strives to create a safe and caring therapeutic relationship, that allow clients to disclose their thoughts and histories honestly and without judgement.

Roslyn will combine a range of modalities in her practice to ensure each client gets a tailored treatment plan that fits their needs best.  She achieves this by drawing on Cognitive Behavioural, Acceptance and Commitment Therapies and a range of DBT skills to assist with emotional regulation, behaviour change and problem solving.
