Michelle Rous

REGISTERED PSYCHOLOGIST – PGDIPPP, MSC, BSC, DAPAANZ PROVISIONAL PRACTITIONER

Michelle is a registered Psychologist with several years experience in residential addictions treatment and anxiety management services. She has worked primarily with adults who have faced significant childhood adversity and trauma, and who are experiencing addictions and complex mental health issues, including those related to anxiety, mood and personality. She has also worked with parents experiencing addictions in a residential service for families. 

Michelle has a warm, empathetic and collaborative therapeutic style and holds the relationship between herself and her clients as paramount. She modifies her approach according to best practice and her client's needs and preferences. She works with individuals from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, and endeavours to understand each person within their unique contexts.

Michelle utilises evidence based assessment procedures and interventions, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and draws from mindfulness based approaches such as dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). She has a particular interest in issues relating to anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, emotional regulation, interpersonal functioning, addictions, physical health and nutrition and their interplay with psychological wellbeing.
