COUNSELLOR and
Waypoint Navigator
Hello! I am very much a human, just like you - who experiences the ups and downs of life. I am originally from Malaysia, took a leap of faith to study and migrate to the beautiful Aotearoa where I now call my other home. I can empathise the challenges faced when big changes happen in life, e.g. moving and migration, having close family members struggling with mental health, etc. I grew up in a mixed bag of cultures - ethnically and spiritually. I would describe myself as jack of all trades!
Sometimes when we face hardships in life, people around us can be quick to offer advice or try to problem solve. Often times, they do this from a place of love and care, and it might not be what we want/ need. I learned from observation while growing up, and with my years of working with clients, that what we often want is a caring, non-judgemental listening ear to our challenges. I believe in the value and power of listening - and would be honoured to listen to yours.
In our therapeutic space, I aim to creating a safe, caring and non-judgemental environment for you to talk about your experiences. I see my role as someone who listens to your sharing, tries to see and understand things in your perspective, and to make sense of your experiences together with you. Other than talking, I also use other ways of exploring when words can be challenging - e.g. drawing, analogies/ metaphors, figurines, etc. or when inspiration strikes to experiment an activity together!
