About Dr Anmol Chawla
Kia ora, I’m Anmol. I’m someone who values connection, balance, and finding joy in the small things. I enjoy spending time outdoors, travelling, and being with my dog, Simba, who keeps me grounded and brings plenty of laughter into my life. Meditation and mindfulness are also an important part of how I look after myself, and they influence the way I show up both personally and professionally.
I’m a registered Clinical Psychologist and the Clinical Services Manager at The Psychology Group. My work brings together two important parts of mental health care: supporting people directly through therapy and assessments, and shaping our services so that the care we provide as a team is safe, consistent, and genuinely responsive to people’s needs.

I offer both therapy and specialist assessments. I provide ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) assessments for teenagers (13+) and adults, and I work closely with families to make the process clear and manageable. I am also an approved provider under ACC’s Sensitive Claims pathway and Psychological Services (MI) where I support people who have experienced physical injury and related mental health challenges, sexual abuse, or assault, to access care that is sensitive, safe, and grounded in evidence.
In therapy, I work with people facing a wide range of challenges, including trauma, depression, anxiety, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), sleep difficulties, workplace stress, and adjustment to life changes. I also provide affirmative care for LGBTQIA+ clients, and I aim to make sure everyone I meet feels respected, valued, and understood.
My clients often describe my style as honest and down-to-earth, while also warm and validating. I focus on listening closely, understanding each story without judgement, and working alongside to find a path forward that feels realistic and meaningful.

The therapies I use are all grounded in evidence. These include Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which helps people notice and shift unhelpful thought and behaviour patterns; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which supports people to respond differently to difficult thoughts and feelings and reconnect with what matters most; and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), which focuses on building skills for managing emotions, tolerating distress, and navigating relationships more effectively.
I am also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing). EMDR is a therapy designed to help people process distressing memories and experiences that can remain “stuck” in the nervous system and continue to trigger strong emotional reactions. It uses guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation, such as tapping or sound, to help the brain reprocess these experiences in a safer and less overwhelming way. I have completed additional training in the Recent Traumatic Episode Protocol (RTEP) and the Group Traumatic Episode Protocol (GTEP), which are specific forms of EMDR designed to support people shortly after traumatic events and in group settings. These approaches give me tools to tailor support to both individuals and communities, helping people regain a sense of calm and control.Description text goes here

When we work together, you can expect a straightforward and respectful style. I value honesty and clarity, but always with compassion. I will adapt therapy to what feels most useful for you, and I will work to create a safe, collaborative space where your identity, culture, and pace are respected.
For me, therapy is about more than reducing symptoms. It’s about making sense of your experiences, rediscovering your strengths, and finding ways to move toward a life that feels rich, balanced, and meaningful.
