ADHD Diagnosis

Adults pathway

At The Psychology Group, we provide ADHD assessments that are thorough and evidence-based.

Our goal is simple: to help you understand your experience, gain clarity, and move forward with confidence.

Your ADHD Assessment Journey

ADHD Diagnosis Step 1

Step 1:
Getting Started

Once you book, we’ll send you a set of questionnaires and forms to complete before your appointment.

These help us understand your history, strengths, and current challenges so your assessment time is used well.

You are also invited to share:

  • School reports (if available)

  • Previous medical or psychological reports

  • An observer questionnaire from someone who knows you well

Our team will guide you through exactly what’s needed.

ADHD Diagnosis Step 2

Step 2:
Your Assessment Appointment
(up to 2 hours)

Your assessment is a dedicated, unrushed session with a trained ADHD clinician.

This includes:

  • A detailed clinical interview

  • Exploration of childhood and adult experiences

  • Discussion of mental health, wellbeing, and daily functioning

  • Assessment aligned with diagnostic standards

You are welcome to bring a support person if helpful.

ADHD Diagnosis Step 3

Step 3:
Multidisciplinary Review

Where appropriate, your assessment is reviewed by our wider clinical team (Psychiatrist, Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Psychologists) This ensures your diagnosis and recommendations are thoughtful, balanced, and clinically sound.

Following this review:

  • A clear diagnostic outcome is confirmed

  • Practical recommendations are developed

  • Next steps are outlined in a written summary shared with you

ADHD Diagnosis Step 4

Step 4:
Understanding Your Next Steps

ADHD support looks different for everyone.

Your recommendations may include:

  • Psychological strategies and therapy

  • Environmental and lifestyle supports

  • Education and workplace guidance

  • Consideration of medical review, where appropriate

Medication is not required for everyone. When it is considered, pathways are carefully matched to your needs and reviewed by experienced clinicians.

A Thoughtful, Safe Approach to Medication

If medication is explored, this occurs only after:

  • A comprehensive assessment

  • Clinical review

  • Clear planning and shared decision-making

We work collaboratively with medical professionals to ensure care is safe, appropriate, and well supported.

Why Choose The Psychology Group?
