About Ying Jones

Hello! Like many people, I have experienced significant life transitions, including immigrating to Aotearoa New Zealand, adapting to a new culture, and navigating the changes that come with different stages of life. These experiences have given me a deep appreciation for the courage it takes to seek support and find a sense of belonging.

Throughout my career, I have worked in hospice, university, community mental health, addiction services, and private practice, supporting people from diverse backgrounds and walks of life. I have worked alongside people living with cancer, chronic and life-limiting illnesses, their family members and caregivers, people experiencing substance use challenges and their whānau, trauma, grief and loss, identity changes, relationship difficulties, major life transitions, single parents, and LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent individuals, including people with ADHD.

My experience includes both individual and group settings. Having lived and worked across different cultures, I value understanding each person's unique story and strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where people feel seen, respected, and understood.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, walking in nature, painting with acrylics, and playing the dulcimer. I also enjoy travelling, exploring different cultures/foods, and continuing to learn through reading and research.
